THE SOUTHWEST CHEMICAL ASSOCIAITON MEMBER SPONSORED SCHOLARSHIP SCORING PROCEEDURES April 1, 2012

Scoring individual applications will be done on a blind basis in that the grader will not know the applicant’s name.  Each of the categories on the application will be scored from 1 to 10 points on the following basis.  1 point being the lowest and 10 points being the highest.

WORK, ACTIVITIES and FINANCIAL NEED:  Will be scored from 0 to 10 points as determined by the evaluator.

ESSAY:                     0 to 5 points for Content
0 to 3 points for Grammar and Spelling
0 to 2 points for Clarity

GPA:                         1 to 10 points to be assigned strictly as follows:

3.98 and above        10
3.90 – 3.97                 9
3.82 – 3.89                 8
3.74 – 3.81                 7
3.66 – 3.73                 6
3.58 – 3.65                 5
3.50 – 3.57                 4
3.42 – 3.49                 3
3.34 – 3.41                 2
3.25 - 3.33                  1

Upon grading of applications on the above basis, the results will be weighted as follows:

TOTAL APPLICATION SCORE:

GPA:                                     40%

ACTIVITIES:                        10%

WORK:                                 15%

ESSAY:                                15%

FINANCIAL NEED:               20%

TOTAL =                              100%
